Thank you for tuning in! If you enjoyed this video. You should check out my other tips video "5 Amazing Woodworking Tips / Hacks" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0Hm-whbWOY
I've been a woodworking hobbyist for over 30 years, and I grew up watching my carpenter father. I never knew about the rubber bands on the spring clamps. And the other thing that would have saved me recently when gluing up a cutting board is putting salt on the glued surfaces to prevent them from sliding. That alone was worth watching the 12-minute video. You have a new subscriber now!
Thanks for these awesome tips bc I have family all in construction but none who want to pass down tricks to a woman
Thanks, for the awesome 😎 tips!
nice
For a DIY noob, this was a great video. I want to commend you, first, on the music. So many youtoobers feel the need to crank up the music up when they are not talking. This was the perfect volume and even if you did talk I could hear you over the music. Really appreciate it.
And for anyone who has lots of spring clamps and doesn't need a bandi clamp- you can always use them on your bag of potato chips… so they don't collect sawdust.
The salt trick was great, yeah…but the nail -taped-down trick was really great. 👍🏆👏🔨🗜🇺🇸
Man these tips are great, thanks so much for sharing.
real guru!
Great tips mate, thank you 🙂
Fantastic tips, thanks a lot 👍
I like the nail centering marking, thanks
I've been doing woodworking for more than 20 years and the salt trick is the best. I do get tired of parts moving when I put glue on them. Thanks for the knowledge.
Great stuff! I like the salt trick. Very innovative.
Solid video. Thanks for the tips!
I'm not a beginner by any stretch, but I like learning new tricks. Thanks a lot, and greetings from South Carolina!
Thank you very much!
When you have an odd gluing situation where clamps are difficult, or awkward to use, try using an effective method that is used in many Third World furniture shops where they usually have a shortage of wood clamps for glue up projects. It's called the "Rub Joint". Simply apply a moderate amount of glue evenly to the two pieces to be joined, and slide them back and forth in a rubbing motion while applying a little bit of pressure. As you keep rubbing, you'll soon notice that it will become harder and harder to slide the pieces. When you get to the point where the pieces will barely slide any more, simply move them into the desired position, wipe away the excess glue, and let it set up — just like you'd do with clamps. Hours later, you'll find that the joint is just as solid and strong as if you had tightly clamped them together. Why, you ask? The reason is that your rubbing action accomplished the same thing that clamps do. All the clamps really do is drive out the air between the two pieces. Your rubbing motion did exactly the same thing. You merely drove out the air, that's all. Third World ingenuity!
I would prefer to see more practical stuff like how to stop floorboards from squeaking but the salt trick was awesome
