I am a really good swimmer
I'm gonna be training to be a lifeguard pretty soon, and I'm pretty sure I can do everything swim related. But I also have to perform a decent dive and retrieve a 20lb brick from deep in the pool, which is tricky since I've never dived a day in my life. Your advice, however, makes me a lot more confident and I feel like I can do it. Thank you.

im having a competition today, basically i am an exp. swimmer + diver, but i still watched this video to know if im doing it correctly 🙂 and honestly the deep dive is exactly my problem so i will try lifting up my arms!

I watched your video 20 minutes prior to my 2 hour swimming session. and sir I am glad to inform you that it worked.
I was a bit hesitant at first but then I tried diving from sitting position, and then from standing position and finally from the ramp..

I found the track star pose to be so much easier to begin with and then did the side by side after when I felt more comfortable

May I add a few obvious additions? You must be a safe swimmer in deep water because it would be foolish to try to learn to dive in shallow water. There are "drills", like handstands in chest deep water to develop a spring and head position. Going too deep can be caused by over rotation; this is usually due to the spring or push not being directed through the hips but the buttocks. As a trick keep your arms by your side, tuck your body, chin in, rotate with a late push to achieve a 360° with splash. With the arms pointing forward or above the horizontal and maintaining your head up will gain you maximum points in any belly flop competition.
Vince are you still flopping? If you are, look at this video again where the "flop" is demonstrated. Notice on entering the water the floppers head is above his arms. At the start of a dive it is ok to look down the pool but the arms must point towards the entry point and the head must be between the arms, looking down just before entry. Hope this helps.
i can dive off the block and i do not belly flop but i dont go long, like i can do a nice jjump but the length i'm supposed to reach isnt satisfactory
