My wife and I just switched from the ketogenetic diet to the Mediterranean diet. After years of keto and losing over 25 lbs, we felt as if we were missing out on a lot of food we weren't able to eat. Let me tell you, not only have I escaped my plateu but I can honestly say that I've never been so satisfied in my life. The food we eat now is so much more healthier and tastier than I could have ever imagined. Thanks for your vids, it have been transformative!
healthy food costs a fortune in UK yet they tell us to eat healthy
awwww the little girl is so pretty
Why would people think the Med. Diet is “low carb” and that 2 T oil is “high fat”? My guess is that the information was distorted once it reached the public en masses, perhaps the faulty data skewed the perception of American public to begin to believe very weird things about healthy dietary habits and how to make food taste good. I’m Cajun Creole and I grew up in a very poor old school Cajun family who cooked very high fat, high carb and vegetables usually homegrown, lots of fresh onions and garlic, scallions and parsley, tomatoes, berries, greens and potatoes, plums, figs, okra, citrus, rice, yard chicken and seafood, whatever the land could produce and they used what they had on hand. When I first learned of the Med. Diet around 27 years ago although specifics of recipes and ingredients were not the exact same, there was something very familiar about the humble diet and methods of cooking. Watching videos of Mediterranean village people cooking and eating their favorite dishes felt very much like watching and learning to cook with my own family members our favorite meals. The peasant Cajun Creole recipes that come so naturally to me to cook translated brilliantly to the peasant Mediterranean cuisine. Many people write off Cajun Creole diet as a whole because they have no idea what we born and raised Cajuns ate on a regular basis and I promise you that gumbo is not a daily dish it’s a winter meal often eaten with potato salad or sweet potato afterwards. Crawfish étouffée is a Spring-early Summer special treat that we eat about 4 times a year during crawfish season. So many cucumber and tomato based salads, fresh vegetables smothered in fat, rice and beans every single day. My grandmother just passed away at 100 and she ate Cajun Creole diet her entire life as did all my grandparents who lived well into their 80s without medical intervention. Most of my ancestors were actually from the Mediterranean areas of France and Spain and the Balearic Islands. The old folks of the entire Mediterranean region knew how to eat healthy and make dishes taste fantastic 😊 don’t count out Cajun Creole food as inherently unhealthy as what has made it to the public consciousness are only dishes we eat a few times per year
Diet is definitely one thing
Their life style and work is major factor
They aren’t living the rat race
Awesome. I am going on the bread for life diet and researching the best bread to eat. Come to find out there is lots of them. But the diet calls for lots of veggies so Mediterranean diet is closrly related. I like the fats because it keeps one full longer and the little bit of protein not alot just enough. The cost though is a big factor. I like to save big. Anywhere in my plan in life to save i exploit it. Thanks. I subscribed
I'm dissacharadase intolerant, meaning i don't have enough enzymes to process:
Fat
Sugar
Maltase (whatever that is)
Milk
Looking for a way to get my nutrients up. When i saw high fat i realised, oh, another one I can't do.
Anyone else the same? What have you discovered? How do i absorb the nutrients instead of suffering from malnutrition all the time?
When you know better, do better. But for those who don't know, Vegan diet trumps the Mediterranean diet for health. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obx7cJtk3fE&list=PL-cWo21hNcIMrIq5XfXSoeed3nW9twaAy&index=7&pp=gAQBiAQB
This is so interesting because while on keto I noticed I never felt full. So I started taking 2 tablespoons of avocado oil before every meal and cooking with avocado oil instead of butter. I also started incorporating more vegetables and cheese in place of meat. Had no idea I was adopting aspects of the Mediterranean diet. Now that I do, I can honestly say it's the most sustainable diet I've ever been on. I don't count calories or carbs, I just make sure I pair a healthy oil with every meal. If it's something that's not cooked (like a salad), I'll drizzle oil on top or just drink a small amount and wash it down with water (super easy). My grocery list is quite small and affordable as I mainly eat vegetables, eggs, meat, and dairy. The most expensive things in my diet are the oils (I use extra virgin cold pressed avocado and olive oil). My treat is sweetened almond milk with my coffee. I've lost more weight eating like this than eating 20 carbs and under on keto. So for me, it's a lifestyle change.
TIP: For anyone interested in trying this diet, make sure you avoid heavily processed seed oils (ex: Canola, Peanut, Sunflower, Corn, Soybean). These oils can actually be toxic to your health if consumed in large quantities. My recommendations are to start with either extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil, or coconut oil. But definitely do your own research and make sure the oils you're purchasing are pure and unadulterated. A good brand for avocado oil is Chosen Foods on Amazon.
I keep telling everyone who will listen: Mediterranean diet is the best, less restrictive and more sustainable diet than all the others! Delicious food! Thanks for the video!
“Dirt made my lunch”?
But, who made the dirt?
Tell that adorable child that God made the dirt and all the seeds that make good things come to us from the Earth.
Then you will be a good father for sure🌺❤️
What a beautiful family

I’ve made Horta after watching this and it is fantastic !!
Just got told to do this diet after a neurologist appt for migraines. I already don't eat meat other than seafood but I want to find time out to help. Thank you for this video. 1 year later and still a very great video!
Thanks to dirt? Weird!
Don't forget about portion control. Four ounces of protein or less. Dessert on a day to day basis is usually just fruit.
Great video! To my believe, delicious meal comes from the food itself. Therefore, embrace how to grow vegetable and food locally and it’s best to have a small farm in everyone’s communityz
The woman videoed in CRETE is obese. That’s not a promising sign 😂
DIRT MADE MY LUNCH 🥹I’m going to sing this song at every meal
How can a diet be high carb and high fat ? If it has 50%/50% its a balanced diet.
Olive oil in the USA is usually fake ! It’s easy to get it in Crete
