hello is it illigal to use a dolphin kick before the flip turn?
Most fast swimmers leave the wall on their backs. For most people, rotating to your side while flipping will be a little slower, so if you're not sure what to do, definitely start with flipping with no rotation and then start rotating as your toes leave the wall. Again – for almost everyone, this is the faster turn and if you're racing, it really matters. A little slower on every turn = 5 or 6 seconds of time on a 1000m race in a 25m pool. (39 turns * .15 secs = 5.85 seconds) In an evenly matched race, 5.85 seconds will be the difference between 1st place and last place.
