      To me the fretboard diagram doesn’t match at all what you’re playing. I can follow your hand but have to completely ignore the diagram because it makes zero sense to me. Props to those who can “see” it. That’s probably why I suck at playing

      Holy crap man.
      I dont usually comment on stuff, but i just had to say.
      It is so blatant and passionately obvious how much you care about wanting to help the people watching these videos. Justin literally speaks so earnestly and honestly that the advice he is sharing becomes EVEN MORE BENEFITAL. You rarely hear musicians- no offense yall, but especially guitarists- fully admitting " Oh my gosh i haven't always been this good". No other guitarist, teacher, OR YOUTUBER has made me feel this relaxed about entering the big world of music. That's why he is the GOAT of guitar youtubers. And if you disagree with me at all, just go back and really open yourself up

      Why do we do all down-picks? Is it to make it easier, or is it an important part of the practice? {edit: ah of course I found the "Alternate Picking the C Major Scale" video immediately after asking…}

      knowing the major scale formula helps…whole, whole, half, whole, whole, whole, half. this refers to the distance between the notes

      So why's this a C major scale? I see it starting with an E, so I would expect it to be an E major scale.

      I've been playing self taught for 15 years give or take. I've tried and failed with scales a few times up until now. I love the way you explain everything in an easy to understand manor. At least for me anyway! Highly recommend these videos and I'll definitely be checking out more. Thanks a bunch! 🎸

      4:50 This is so wrong in so many aspects. Perfectionism is bad. When a child is learning to walk, they are likely to stumble and fall many many times. However, this doesn't prevent them from eventually becoming skilled walkers. Making a mistake once or twice doesn't build a fundamental habit of doing something wrong, and instead, provides an opportunity to correct and improve upon the mistake. You don't have to play it perfect from the beginning, don't force yourself. So, rather than striving for perfection from the beginning, it's important to approach learning with a growth mindset, where mistakes are viewed as opportunities for improvement.

      this is about impossible to follow, without pausing and rewinding thousands of times. have to look to see what string you're on, then look where i'm going. since you say you're going to use index first fret and so on, why not just say which string you're on, or both… so you can listen and watch what you're doing.

      If any guitar player could help me with this question I’d appreciate it. But I’m watching this as a beginner piano player with a strong understanding of basic music theory and scales knowledge. How come he is going past the c once he reaches the c a octave higher and going to the g then rewinding back to the beginning C note. When with piano it’s just c,d,e,f,g,a,b, c octave higher, then all the way back to beginning C?regards

      I'm also trying to recall the name of the note I'm playing. This is easy going up the scale since it's C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C, D, E, F, G. But it's not so easy going down the scale since it's the alphabet in reverse.
      I have never been able to remember which note is where and what any given note is called (same with chords), so I may need to enforce this while practicing things like scales
