I won't understand this for another 9 months.
Gracias… nunca antes había pensado en esto mucho menos en corregir la postura. Lo intentaré cada vez antes de que entre en la alberca para ir corrigiendo mis errores. Gracias, gracias, gracias.
I don’t ‘ve lower back pain but I have pain in my stomach if I swim for 1 km , I consider myself an intermediate swimmer but I usually face this issue like pain in front core .
Does anyone face this issue ?
And how to resolve it
Just starting to learn to swim. Second lesson in and my lower back has sent me here!
Can u do a video well under water to avoid back, neck pain? I will try doing 'zipping up jeans' for sure. How do i continue being in that posture while swimming?
THANK you for this! I went on a very long snorkeling adventure in Belize, for hours! Then when we got back to the boat and I sat down on the boat – YOOOWWWW my lower back was on FIRE and I could barely walk for a couple days! Thank you for explaining this!
very insighful in explaining importance of core muscles in freestyle swimming
Great video thanks, just started swimming again and my back had been feeling sore after swimming. Will try this next time.
not a swimmer, swam cause of my cousins birthday and hey! once in a year opportunity. i was so worried but i remembered i swam and uh.. i’m not a very good swimmer so.
OH. THAT'S why…. will be more mindful.
Too much talking without seeking the demonstration
Huge difference when I pull in my core .
i don't get it. just by engaging core your body comes in a correct postion? i just need to suck my belly???not work more with my legs to reposition the body???
Dear Coach Mandy,
I came across other videos which are trying to explain the same ideas like downhill, core stability but your explanations are unique and very smart.
Thank you so much. I am in the process of losing a lot of weight and yesterday, swimming I really pushed my self because of limited time and space availability in the pool, to get the most out of what we had and my back has been in such horrid pain since then and I'm afraid, now I can't swim today and I'm not even sure how long I should wait. It is is a bit scary and confusing. How can a person possibly hurt themselves in the water? It sounds sooo silly and yet here I am. Then you also worry, sheesh, did I damage my back when the pain hurts this much? Thank you for clarifying. Even at this point, just normally getting around the house is very painful and slow. How long is the typical time to take a break and let it repair/heal/recover? After this, I am definitely going to start paying attention to my core instead of using my limbs for stabilization. It makes so much sense! Oh edit: Any ideas on how to apply this to breast stroke? I know my breast stroke posture is already bad but I push myself to do it to really work my arms and other muscles in my legs but when I do… mannnnn I can feel it pulling hard on my neck and lower back.
Love your nails
This is great! I'm recovering from a triple lumbar injury within 5 weeks, and now that I'm finally beginning to get active again, totally wondering why my back hurts….. This now all makes sense.
Thanks!
Really interesting. Slight confused by the jeans analogy. Does it involve pushing pelvis forward or back? Thanks
Will try it tomorrow 🙂
You videos are one of the best explaining the key issues. Thank you.
Trying to go SO, thanks for making this page. As soon as the cuarentena is lifted I will dive right into the pool
We just put a pool in and alas my lower back hurts. This was helpful. I just had diastisis surgery (Had my abs sewed back together after birthing 6 kids). So my core needs retraining. I like the zipping up jeans analogy. Thanks.
I've had back pain but it's constant never stops and its not only on my low back its on my whole back and my back is really straight, i got huge stretch marks on my back. The doctor said that i grew rapidly 3 inches in 2 months and i keep growing because of those stretch marks after swimming
My whole back is soremid and lower are the worst, from a series of bad posture movemenrs.
I don't know what to do, now.
Any suggestions , Mandy ?
“Zipping up a pair of jeans” – is this like anterior pelvis tilt?
I get lower back pain from swimming, will try this, thanks coach Mandy👍
Hi Mandy….me an my daughter love your swim videos. I was wondering if you could make a video on what is best to eat and drink before and during a swimming competition…and also what not to. Looking forward your new videos. Milos
wooooohhhoooo . thank you soooooooooo much for that zipper tip
Beautiful and intelligent
4:37 to 6:02, the easy-to-understand explaination really helps. Thank you very much coach.
Mandy- I had never heard of "zipping up a pair of jeans" before. Now, swimming makes much more sense. Thank you! Please do more on this.
Hi coach Mandy .How do I increase my speed @ open water swims .Only avr 2 40 per 100 ?
Wow. I had exactly this low back pain problem when I began to swim six years ago. If only I would have seen this before 😉 Now, sometimes other swimmers ask me what’s my trick to stay so easily horizontal without kicking hard (and with no pullbuoy) and my explanations are not satisfying at all. But now I will give them the link to your video. Thank you for your great work.
