My god, there are some truly clueless people defending this exercise. I could see this exercise perhaps being useful for rehab in some extreme cases, but unless you are a 90 year old recovering from fractured arms this is just useless, no matter what the goal might be, e.g. endurance, strength, flexibility, hypertrophy, "toning" (which honestly means nothing), etc. But by all means, keep at it! At least it's only your own time you're wasting and not anyone else's.
