Even for those who want to eat healthy, picking the right diet can be tricky.
Watch our video on the ketogenic diet, the latest fad in eating healthy: http://bit.ly/2DNkjZh
10 dollars in Indian you can eat full meal for a week
Thank God I am born in India i buy 1kg apple in 1usd and 12 bananas at half a dollar feeling bad for American people
In india in 10 dollars you can get 10x the apples shown here…
Higher taxes on junk food is not really the best solution. Should be subsidizing healthier foods
The price really has very little to do with the manufacturing process, more to do with competition (or lack their), and maximizing gains in the market. Strawberries for example.. She provides the example that some are picked by hand, some by machine. However, almost NO farm actually picks there starberrys via machine as labor is cheap in the areas they grow best. If actual cost were the main factor, fresh would be cheaper, however, expiration dates greatly reduce the price. Fresh require a lot more maintenance , where as fresh can be shipped around the world.
What's more, anyone who has traveled around the world a bit, and checked out popular grocery stores will find they all have a few of the same brands, Nescafe, Nutella, etc.. same brands from Brazil, to Philippines to Kazakhstan. One thing you will notice though, is in countries with less automation, the prices (even based off the local currency) of fresh produce is drastically cheaper than the preserved counter part. A lot of that has to do with market place trust. Much of the time people are viewed to be in an elevated status if they can afford prefab American style foods, rather than fresh produce. again, it all has to do with marketing. factories are beyond belief efficient these days. It has very little do to with the actual output, rather than how much money you are willing to input.
A junk food tax? Such an obvious excuse to tax everything possible. Its not up to the government to choose what we decide to feed ourselves.
It seems like Vox's solutions always come down to taxation and government subsidies. How about individuals making healthy choices for themselves? Even lower income people can have healthier diets with more fiber and produce with some planning and discipline.
Hey Vox, you beautiful mini Einstein… news flash! It's quite expensive to eat healthy worldwide!
in switzerland i can buy 2 of the cheapest donuts from the grocery store for 4 dollars
Well, just eat less donuts. You save money on calories per dollars
Why not buy one doughnut and save 9 dollars for your next meal?
Easier to control an unhealthy population than a healthy strong one!
Give me a break before inflation there were healthy options frozen fruits and veggies are healthy
i see.
This video has a lot of problems. For example frozen fruit is almost as nutritious(or more) as fresh fruit becuase of how efficient modern flash freezing is. It is also a boat load cheaper than fresh. Having a bowl of oats and berries is dirt cheap and extremely healthy and takes as much work as boiling water.
I think more nutrition info to the general public would be better. We were not taught proper nutrition and just knowing is a step. I had no clue until I turned 20 and went to a doctor on my own (which not everyone can do!).
£0.29 for an apple in the uk. Although I sometimes do question how it is that cheap
literally i got the grilled nuggets from chick fila and it was 10 dollars but i always get the grilled nuggets anyway
I don’t think town markets with produce exist in America ,it’s all labelled products from stores, the more I think about it the more dystopian it sounds.
Apple Weight: 200 grams
Cost of a Kilo of Apples in America: $1.50-$5 (According to Various Google Results)
Way to start this video off
You're absolutely lying if you say 5 apples is 10$, at most that is maaaaybe 2$ for 5 apples and even that's for luxury ones.
Apples are a little over $2 per pound, oats are $.33 per pound, and strawberries can be as low as a dollar per pound. Farmers markets are usually cheaper.
The number of people farming dropped dramatically as well. Which went from 50% of Americans producing meat and veggies to 2%. And instead it is controlled by government and corporations
If you try to sell 5 apples for 10€ in Italy they'll laugh at you. 5 apples here it's like 1,50€ maybe
I don't think that the prices reflected in this video are accurate. the price that they have shown for apples does not align with prices from any other source I've compared it too. They are exaggerating the price of healthy food
Why does she kind of sound like cardi b?
Where I live, 5 apples would cost 1 dollar 🤨
If you want to be healthy you got to be able to afford it.
Canned corn and beans are very cheap. It’s the healthy proteins that are too expensive.
That being said, unhealthy foods are less nutritional, therefore it takes longer to satiate someone. Therefore, it’s better to buy the apples and have one a day
Wrong; because we don’t actually need 1200 calories a day. People don’t even look at serving size, nutritional value, fiber, caloric satiation, vitamins and minerals, etc. It comes down to quality over quantity. How about staying away from processed foods, sugar, and alcohol completely? How about getting that in check and then incorporating some cardio and/or going to the gym?
I want to be a vegan or vegetarian but it's so expensive. I do have a small garden, trying to grow my own vegetables, some fruits, and fruit trees
Tax junk food, use those tax dollars towards lowering healthy food cost.
I'll never happen because America is so corrupt the taxed dollars would be paid towards "admin fees" and just end up in the pockets of rich people.
Plus, Obese low income people are easy to control, they have a hard time protesting and have an incredibly hard to beat perfectly legal addiction to sugar and junk food.
In Bangladesh with 10 dollars,
you can eat for 3-4 days
I like Junk Food more anyway and my body rejects certain healthy food and makes me gag.
Lol calories does not matter that much, if you ate the apple instead you would be healthier…
USA has the cheapest food of all westernized countries. It is subsidized by the government. It is definitely not expensive either in stores or cheap restaurants.
This is nothing but an excuse for people not to lose weight. I'll never understand why white liberals think like this. They care more about possibly offending someone than saving lives.
65 million to subsidize healthy food? So about 5 dollars a person? How much do they spend on the military again? Here they have spoken of a junk food tax too, but fresh food isn't coming down in price. I eat what is available, mostly junk, but eating poison junk will sustain me longer than eating nothing! A tax without any solution to make healthy food affordable will starve me! Our country has public healthcare right now, and if the system won't help me stay healthy, I will go out of my way to be a burden on healthcare, the rich will pay one way or another, until they privatize that too and exclude me, then I will just reappropriate (not steal, they are the thieves and conmen, not I) whatever I can from the for profit food sector.
Let me take this moment to thank and recommend Dr Igudia on YouTube who cured my type 2 Diabetes disease with his natural herbs supplements which I ordered from him
I just bought a bag of apples for $3. Where are you shopping?
To all Crypto Investor:
Axie Infinity(Defi Game) is gonna pump in the next few months because of their upcoming update.Invest now. God Bless us all
Wrong framerate
In indonesia, apple is kinda pricy but we have so many cheap type of fruits and organic vegetables. I am so glad to lives here.
you cna go to local park and forage a bunch of food there case solved
Why are you comparing apples to donuts?
I guess it's a similar story for us in the UK?
People aren't going to make the change, unless it starts to hurt them
