How should one do it without becoming anorexic? My sister has suffered from anorexia for over 20 years, then became a bulimic for 10 years. I'm having hypothyridism and immune problems, I'm eating keto for many years and it doesn't help. I'm trying it now along with intermittent fasting, but I hope not to become anorexic… It might give me a good boost and a better look, but I don't want to get addicted to this feeling the wrong way mentally.

He is the one that turned my life around by his weight loss of 154 pounds by eating more fats, and describing insulin as being the problem. Your talk just reinforced all that I have learned to date. If you're a cross fit athlete you should be eating good healthy carbs. 1000s of studies our there showing a healthy balanced diet is needed for intense activity. Dr Frung is a massive fraud.

Adf and extended fasts have done WONDERS for me. The dieticians kept saying “you need to eat three meals and two snacks a day, otherwise you’ll binge”. And I kept saying “that isn’t true for me! I’m even hungrier if I eat like that, even if I eat whole foods and balance macros,etc! Eating just begets more eating for me!” And they kept saying “no, no…that’s all psychological, that’s just not possible, you need to just keep doing what we tell you or we won’t work with you”. Looks like there actually is some science to back up what I was going through!

Thank you Dr Fung for this. I just started IF 2 weeks ago, and it is an amazing experience. I opted for Lazy Keto meal plan, and have reduced my rice and sugar intake since 2 weeks ago..
As a Muslim, I have to point out that during Ramadan, our beloved Prophet Muhammad pbuh recommended us to eat suhoor (pre dawn meal) lightly. He suggested that we eat 3/5/7 dates at most and some plain water.
And as for iftar (breaking fast meal), our Prophet pbuh also suggested to eat lightly as we need to perform salah later on. If we were to eat until we're full, it would be difficult for us to do the deeds though.
And the reason Muslims are mandatory to fast during Ramadan is definitely not because we need to lose weight whatsoever. But I personally have lost weight during each Ramadan. Even after Ramadan has ended, we are still advised to fast. Again..not to lose weight. But purely to serve Allah swt.
Just eat everything in it's required limit.

19:00 It’s true, just cutting calories and exercising doesn’t work, and the most frustrating of all is that I was soo disciplined in doing it, and soo fed up with people telling me I don’t have any discipline or that I’m a secret binge eater, that I developed an eating disorder at 18. It cost me my job, a lot of relationships with friends and family, I never before had a bad relationship with food but this diet for losing approx 10lbs made be gain about 70 lbs in the course of 3 years. It took years of not having fun, hating myself and my body, until I decided to try it again. Now, my 4th attempt probably after kind of recovering from an eating disorder, I found Dr Fung’s videos, and for the first time, now 33yo, I start to lose weight and feel better. I now believe that I can once again weigh 180lbs and not 260lbs. Thank you soo much Jason, im a big advocate of your work 🎉

My nephrologist recommended this video after he gave me a simple IF fasting schedule to start with. My CKD Stage 3b is due to having neurosarcoidosis. I was always VERY slim but started gaming weight due to 40mg of daily prednisone. By the time I was weaned down to a smaller dose of steroids, I was older. Age & weight loss is hard. I have already lost 10 pounds and now I am finally watching this to get more info. This is incredible. I've tried IF before but was doing it all wrong. I want to thank my wonderful nephrologist!

So far I disagree with calories deficit. The reasons the BMR goes does is because they’re losing weight and it changes the bmr with low body weight .

I think IF needs a different name. Fasting less then 24 hrs could be called intermittent eating. To me intermittent fasting for a few hours a day means “I haven’t eaten yet or I all ready ate today. Over 24 hours has meaning to me. IE= intermittent eating is surely a good change from the SAD OR CONSTANT GRAZING instructions of the past. IMHO.
The secret is that pasta should be under cooked, al dente and is then not so digestible.
